IMMIGRATION. A PPLICATIONS for assisted passages -^- in ships under engagement with the Provincial Government may be sent in to the Provincial Secretary, Christchurch, or to the Inspector of Police, Lyttelton. Persons desirous that their relatives or friends should sail for the colony iv the first ships dispatched from England, must send in their applications forthwith, as Mr. Harman, the Emigration Agent, will sail for England immediately. T3EPBESENTATIQNS,.. having., been -*-V made to the Government of the great want of domestic female sei'vants in the settlement, His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified for public information that persons desirous of hiring such servants in England, and obtaining assisted passages for them to the colony, may receive information as to the manner in which this may he effected in accordance with the Immi.gration Regulations published in the Government Gazette of the 28th of March last, by application at this office in Christchurch, or at the office of the Inspector of Police, Lyttelton. Cotterill, 8.A., St. John's College, Cambridge, Head Master. Fees, £2 1 Os. a quarter, to be paid in advance. The instruction in this School will comprise , the Glassies, the Elements of Mathematics, History, Geography, Arithmetic, Book-keeping, Writing, &c. The religious teaching will be in accordance with the doctrines of the Church of England, but, at the request of the parents or guardians, pupils may receive general instruction without such religious teaching. Examinations-will be held by the bead master every month, and a monthly report will be sent to the parents of the progress and conduct of the beys. An examination will also be held half-yearly.. Boys to buy their own books, &c., which will be supplied by the Head Master or Mr. Ingram Shrimpton. School hours. Morning, from 9to 12; Afternoon, from 2 to half-past 4 in summer-, and from 2 to 4 in winter. Half holidays on Wednesdays and Saturdays.' v • Six weeks holidays to be given in the summer and five weeks in the winter. Holidays will be given at Easter, commencing on Good Friday, and continuing to the end of Easter week. Boarders can be received by the Head Master. Terms, £40. Beference to be made to the Rev. G. Cotterill,. Head Master, or to J, Spowers, Esq.,, Inspector of Schools for the Lyttelton district. Pupils will be admitted on Monday, the 15th inst. Fees for the half-quarter to be paid in advance. CHRISTCHURCH BOOK CLUB, A SPECIAL meeting of the members of -C*- the Christcburcb Book Club will be held at the Grammar School, Christchurch, on Saturday, the 20th May, at noon, for the purpose of collecting subscriptions and ordering new books for the current year.
