Tjie following appointments by His Honor the Superintendent have been gazetted this week :— H. G. As Deputy-Registrars, provisionally, until her Majesty's pleasure shall be known ; — Alfeed Barker, Esq., Surgeon, for the Christchurch district: William Donald, Esq., Surgeon, for the Lyttelton district; Samuel Beswick, Esq., Surgeon, for the Kaiapoi distric*.; Daniel Watkins, Esq., Surgeon, for the Akaroa district.

We extract the following from the Provincial Gazette of the 24th instant: IMMIGRATION. HIS HONOR THE SUPERINTEN- ■ DENT directs the following1 Immigration Regulations, which have been adopted by the advice of the Executive Council under the provisions of the Immigration Ordinance, Sess. 11., No. 4, to be published for general information. 1. Allpersons desirous of obtainingassisted passages to the Province of Canterbury in vessels under contract with the Provincial Government will, as a general rule, be required to pay one-half of the passage-money in cash before going on hoai\! the ship. : 2. The Shipping Agents in England will be authorized in cases where they shall be satisfied of the entire respectability of the parties applying for assisted passages to accept bills for such part of the one-half of the passage money required by the last mle, ;s the immigrants may be unable to pay in cash. All such bills will be under twenty pounds (£2O) in amount, and will; be made payable on demand to the Provincial Treasurer for the time being, but. will be accompanied by a written undertaking that the payment oi" the bills will not be required w:thhi one year alter the arrival of the immigrant in (lie colony, wnless he shall sooner aliompt to leave the Pro\ince, in which casu payment will be immediately
