ARTICLE, by Sir Charles, out of Brunette. Leading Article is a handsome dark brown horse, fifteen hands- high, rising five years old, and of excellent constitution ; was foaled in Nelson, Avhere. lie won the Leger in 1552, beating Mr. Tinline's- Gipsy Queen, and on the following day, the Ladies' Purse, beating Mr. Newcome's mare Vesta, and Mr. Godfrey's horse, Silvertail, in 2 m. 21 sec, and 2 m. 22 sec, distance I mile 366 yards, carrying 9st. Slbs. (131bs. overweight). Leading Article was trained for the last Nelson races, "and was the favourite for the Victualler's Purse, of three miles, against Mr. Redwood's celebrated horse, Glaucus, and Mr. Newcome's horse Joe Miller, but he broke down in ihe race from an injury he had received in the fetlock joint. This horse will arrive ai Christchnvch from Nelson, on or before the Ist of October next, when further particulars will be given.
