Hamilton, Sub-Treasurer. ; NOTICE. ~~~ Election of Superintendent. Resident Magistrate's Office, Lyttelton . June 29, 1853. I HEREBY GIVE NOTICE, that having received from the Government the Writ for the Election of a Superintendent of this Province, the Nomination of Candidates for that office will take place at the Land Office, at Christehurch, on Monday, the 18th day of July following, at the hour of one o'clock, p.m. Should a Poll be demanded on behalf of any Candidate, I appoint the following Wednesday to be the day upon which such Poll shall be held ; and the Polling shall take place at the Resident Magistrate's Court at Christchurch, and at the Resident Magistrate's Court at Lyttelton. The Polling at Akaroa shall take place at such place and time as the Returning Officer there shall appoint. The Polling shall; v take place between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., at which hour the Polls will be finally closed. Every Elector shall deliver his vote, by personally handing to the Returning Officer, or his Deputy, a Voting Paper, signed with his name, and setting forth his place of abode and description, and further containing the Christian and surname of the person for whom he votes, together with his place of abode and description. SPECIAL MEETINGS of Magistrates, open to the Public, will be held, as specified below, for the purpose of hearing and determining Objections to Claims to Vote at the ensuing Elections, and of forming the Electoral Roll for the ensuing year ; viz.—At the Resident Magistrate's Court at Lyttelton, for the Town of Lyttelton, July 5, at the hour of 1 ] a.m. Christehurch, for the Town of Christchuvcii, July 11, at the hour of 11 a.m. Christehurch, for the Christehurch Country District, July 14, at the hour of 11 a.m. Chaei.es Simeon, Resident Magistrate. NOTICE, THE ANCIENT ORDER of FORESTERS, will hold their general half-yearly Meeting, at the Golden Fleece Hotel, Christchurch, on Monday evening, July 4th, at Six o'clock.
