Christchurch Market, June 25.—The market to day was well attended, and all kinds of produce remained firm at last week's quotations. There was a good number of the principal stockowners down from the interior, and considerable interest was evinced iiv promoting the intended cattle show in September next, under the direction of the Christehurch Agricultural Society. A large subscription [was entered into, so as to enable the Commmittee to offer liberal premiums for all kinds of stock, and we have no doubt that the show will be generally on such a scale and character, from the support proffered by the principal owners of Stock, as will make it superior to any that has ever yet been exhibited in the colony.
The want of a Flour Mill of sufficient power to meet the increasing demands of the province, having been for some time felt, a proposition was made for forming one by a Company of Shareholders; the suggestion was so favourably received that more than half the capital required was at once subscribed ; indeed, so great was the anxiety to immediately commence that the whole number of shares would have been taken up, but it was thought desirable that the plan should be laid before the public, in order that the number of shareholders should be extended as much as possible. A prospectus of the Company will, no doubt, be shortly issued.
