HER MAJESTY'S BIRTHDAY, AT a Public Meeting held yesterday at the Mitre Hotel, which was numerously attended, the necessary measures were taken to celebrate Her Majesty's Birthday. Subscriptions were promised in the loom to the amount of nearly £40. It was decided that the amusements should consist of a Regatta for decked and vowing boats, to be followed by other sports, full particulars of which will appear in hand-bills and in next week's Times. A Committee was appointed for carrying out the objects -of the Meeting, to meet to complete the final arrangements on Tuesday evening next, at 7 o'clock, at the Mitre. A. Bayfield, Hon. Sec. GHRISTCHUROH MARKET. AT a Public Meeting held at the Golden Fleece Hotel, Christchurch, on Tuesday, the 3rd instant, pursuant to public notice, for the purpose of taking steps for the establishment of a Market in Christchurch, W. G. Brittan, Esq. in the Chair, the following resolutions were adopted:— 1. That it is very desirable that a fixed Market should at once be established in Christchurch, for the sale of Stock and Agricultural Produce. 2. That the Market be held weekly, on every Saturday. 3. That a Committee of twelve gentlemen be appointed to draw up rules for the general management and regulation of the Market. 4. That the following gentlemen be a Committee :—Messrs. Brittan, Deans, Bishop Bray, Brown, Beard, Fooks, Longden' Austin, Inwood, Gould, and Gibbs; and' that five be a quorum. 5. That the first Market be held on Saturday the 14th instant, W. G. Bhutan, Chairman of Meeting. Christchurch, May 4, 1853. N.B.—An ordinary will be held every Mar Icet day at the Golden Fleece Hotel at 1 o'clock, P.M. The "Eew Zealand lodge of Unanimity, No. 879. TX^ILL be opened in due and solemn * » form on Thursday, May 26th, under warrant of constitution from the Grand Lodge of England.
