The Gazette of the 25th of May contains a Proclamation with respect to the Raupo, Cattle Tiespass, and Dog Nuisance Ordinances, which are to be put in force: the former on the Ist November, and the two latter on the Ist July. We refer our readers to a notice from the Resident Magistrate's Court, in the 9th page, respecting the Dog Nuisance and Raupo Acts, and with regard to the Cattle Trespass, the Ordinance declares that the owners of cattle shall forfeit and pay for every head of cattle found wandering at large in any street and public place, any sum not exceeding ss. to be recovered in a summary way. At the Meeting of the Christchurch [Colonists' Society on the 15th, H. J. Tancred, Esq., J.P., was appointed Chairman, Rev. J. Twigger, Vice-Chair-man, J. Marsliman, E->q., Treasurer, and E. J. Wakefield, Esq., J.P., Secretary. A Committee of •ten was also appointed. The first meeting of the Committee will be held on the 22nd, and of the Society, on the 29th instant Persons wishing to propose subjects for discussion, or to deliver lectures, or to read papers before the Society, are invited to send written notices of their wishes to the Chairman. A young Sperm "Whale was stranded and captured a few days ago at Gollan's Bay.
