THE LYTTELTON REGATTA. To the Editor of the Lyttelton Times. Sir, —The funds subscribed and the stakes of the boats were placed in my hands by the Committee who were appointed to manage the Regatta and Sports which took place on the Queen's Birthday last year. I was unable to lay the accounts before the public at tbe time, becausealong period elapsed before Icould make them up. (i.) The umpires directed that one of the matches should be sailed over again, and no opportunity occurring for so doing, the disputants finally agreed to share the prize without a fresh race. (2.) Some of the subscriptions were not paid until long after ; so that for sonic months I was out of pocket. The final result, however, was, that I received £70 4s. Id., and that I expended £&7 155.; I have therefore a balance of £2 9s. Id., which I Beg to suggest maybe paid at once to any fund raised for similar sports which will probably take place oh the Queen's birthday in the present month. I shall be happy to show the accounts and receipts to any one who may wish to inspect them. I am, Sir, your obedient servant, J. E. Fitzgekald.
