Cricket.—We have been favoured with the following report of the Cricket Match which was played last week. On Friday the 20th March, a match was played in Hagley Park, between tbe married and single gentlemen of our settlement. As the former could not be expected to muster such a strong eleven as their competitors, Mr. Sidebottom was given in. The match, however, was very well contested as the following score will show:

The game was not finished when it became dark, the single men having 19 runs to make, with five wickets to go down. The match, therefore may be considered a pretty equal one. The day was lovely and several ladies were on the ground ; a cold collation was provided at the neighbouring Refreshment Rooms of Mr. Murray, and the whole affair passed off most agreeably, the play being the best yet exhibited in Hagley Park. A subscription was got up for the purpose of making a proper ground and fencing it in, the present piece being rough in the extreme, and very difficult to play on ; the sum collected on the spot amounted "to nearly £30, which will go a good way towards the accomplishment of the desired object. We believe that the return match is to come off some day next week, we. hope gentlemen who intend to play will meet at an earlier hour so that the game may be finished ; it would be as well too, to give more publicity to the proceedings (in the shape of hand bills, &o.) as we are sure there must be many married men in the settlement who can, and who would be glad to play.
