By the establishment of this wharf j a distance of several miles of river will bejsaved, which will frequently enable vessels to siive a tide, and make more speedy trips, while it will add one mile only to the carting-. A proper pier has been erected, so that goods can be landed at any state of the tide without <u|y risk of damage, and placed under shelter in a;"commodious warehouse.
