Queen's Birthday. PUBLIC REGATTA AND SPORTS. f\N SATURDAY, May 24, A Public' Regatta will take place at Lyttelton, when Prizes will be offered to be competed for in the following races:— 1. The Grand Lyttelton Stakes, open to all vessels, from S to 15 tons inclusive, engaged in the Carrying Trade from this port. Entry, 11. Is., with 81. added for the first boat, and a prize of 4/.for the second hoat. If five or more boats enter, the third boat to save its stakes. 2. A rowing Match for 4-oared boats. Entry, 55., with 51. added for the first boat, and 21, for the second. 3. The Godley Stakes, for open sailing Boats uivder 8 tons. Entry, 55., with 51. added by J. ]l. Godley, Esq., for the first boat, and a prize of 3/.. for the second boat. If five or more boats enter, the third boat to save its stakes. 4. A Sculling Dingy Race. Entry 2s. 6d., with 31. added for the first boat. The second to save its stakes. A Variety of English. Sports Will take place for the amusement of the spectators on shore, consisting of Climbing a Greased Pole, Chasing a soaped Pig, Running in Sacks, and a Race with Wheelbarrows, blindfolded. The following gentlemen have kindly consented to act as a Committee, for the purpose of making the necessary arrangements, and receiving subscriptions. The Hon. J. S.
