A COPY of a petition, now in course of signature by the inhabitants of all the Australasian Colonies, for the immediate cessation of Transportation to Van Diem en's Land, lies for signature at the Land office at Lyttelton, The Canterbury*colonists are earnestly requested to consider the grievous injury that would accrue to them and their posterity, should New Zealand continue exposed to the influx of escaped convicts from Van Diemeu's Land. TO LAND-PURCHASERS AND AGENTS, npHE undersigned, having secured the -■- co-operation of a gentleman who has had ample opportunities, during a residence of two years in the Canterbury District, of thoroughly inspecting its various portions, is prepared to undertake the selection of Town or Rural Allotments for those persons who may not have leisure to form an opinion for that purpose by means of personal observation. He ventures, at the same time, to remind them that unless they be prepared to apply for a certain allotment on or before the l7lh of next month, they will run some ribk of losing all advantage derivable from their priority of choice.
