WELLINGTON.

We have received the Wellington Papers to the 25th inst. The first number of the Lyttelxon Times had been received, and its appearance is very kindly welcomed by both our neighbours. Extracts are given from our " Journal of the Week," and full reports of the Meeting of Land Purchasers.

A Public Meeting had been called at Wellington, which was to be held on Wednesday last, to receive the report of the Committee appointed at a previous Meeting to prepare suggestions for a iorm of a Constitution for the Colony more adapted to the wants, and founded on more liberal principles than that proposed by Sir George Grey. There is much interesting matter in these papers from which we shall extract in our next number. A Government Gazette, date Jan. 14, publishes the correspondence between the Colonial Office, and the directors of the New Zealand Company, relating to the dissolution of that body. The following also appears in the same gazette. Colonial Secretary's Office, .Wellington, Jan. 9, 1851. His Excellency the Governor-in-chief has been pleased to appoint Ednard Jerningham Wakefield, and Henry John Tancred, Esquires, of Port Victoria, to be magistrates of the province of New Munster. By His Excellency's command, Alfred Domett, Colonial Secretary.
