TO PURCHASERS OF LAND IN THE CANTERBURY SETTLEMENT. HOLDERS OF LAND ORDERS, drawn on the Ist of July, 1850, are recommended to lose no time in taking such steps as maybe in their power towards an early selection 'of their Towii md Rural Sections, as, if they have not chosen on or before the 17th of February next, they will incur the risk of losing their priority of choice as determined by the [Registered List of Purchasers made in England. Land Office, Lyttelton, Jan. 17, 1851. TO PURCHASERS OF LAND IN THE CANTERBURY SETTLEMENT. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that applications from Holders of Land Orders, for the choice of Town and Rural Sections, will be received at the Land Office of the Association on and after the 17th day of February next. All such applications must be made by letter, marked outside with the number of the order of choice, and accompanied by the Duplicate Land Order, showing the applicant's right to such selection. Public Notice will be given, as soon after the receipt of such applications as possible, announcing what Sections have been allotted to applicants according to .their priority of choice ; and another, and an" early day'wiirbe fixed"for" receiving fresh applications from those parties who may have failed in .the first instance to obtain the Sections they applied for, in consequence of their having been simultaneously applied for by others higher on the registered List. Holders of Land Orders, particularly those who are low down on the registered List, are recommended, in sending in their applications, to provide, as far as they can, against the possibility of their not obtaining the first Section they apply for, in consequence of its being taken from them by the simultaneous application of another having a prior right of selection ; and this, it is thought, may be done by their sending in a list of Sections, consecutively numbered in the order of their preference; so that, failing their first, or even several successive selections, they would still have a choice left, which might at once be allotted to them, without incurring further delay, or the risk of being anticipated by others lower down on the List of Registered Purchasers. It will also be necessary that as accurate a description as possible of the land applied for should accompany each application, which must be in strict accordance with the conditions specified in the Terms of Purchase. This description should, whenever possible, state the number of the nearest Trigonometrical Station, and the distance from it; the frontage fixed on,whether Boad, Eiver, &c, together with any other natural feature of the country, which may assist in accurately describing the boundaries of the land applied for. Land Purchasers desirous of further information or guidance on the subject are invited to call at the Land Office. By order of the Agent of the Canterbury Association, W. G. Bhutan. Land Office, Jan. 16, 1851. N.B. It is to be understood that, in addition to the above written form of application, every holder of a Land Order will be required to attend personally or by agent at the Land Office, in the order of his choice ; in order to explain, beyond any danger of mistake, the description of the particular Section to which his letter of application may entitle him; or to amend the same onthe-spor,should itbe-rendered-neces-sary in consequence of its having been interfered with by an applicant having an earlier right of choice.
