Frem April 1 the Family Allowances Ask comes into force, and there have already been some applications to the Pensions Office under it. but it is ezpested that the number will bo greatly increased as the time for the beginning of operation draws nearer. A father of three or more children, whether sons or daughters, stepsons or stepdaughters, or legally adopted children, may make application, and payment is to be made to the mother, except under special eircumstanoes, and the money granted s to be used for the benefit of the children. The allowance is payable at the rate of ia a week for every child •I the applicant in excess of (wo, but it Is only payable when the average weekly income, from all sources, of the family of the applicant, does net exceed of application for the allow aneo may be obtained from the local Ootk ef Court (Constable O’Shea).
