WELLINGTON WOOL SALE.

Phenomenal Pploea. Pho opening wool sale in the Dominion this season took place at Wellington on Monday last. Ihe catalogue was only i 225 bales, about half the usual amount, but the general quality was so high as scarcely ever to have been excelled. About 80 seats were occupied, and there vraa a large attendance of the public, including the Minister of Lands. Competition was been from the start, bat it appeared to lie principally between Bradford and the United States. There waa a continuous and spirited fusilade of bids, although the sale opened quietly enough’ but these two markets absorbed the greater part of the better grade crossbreds and Romneys Buyers appeared to be generally after these wools and buying without apparent limits. 8 PHENOMENAL PRICES. The prices realised were phenomenal. No one anticipated an increase on the high prices of March last but to-day’s sale showed an increase of four.five, six and Sevan pence on various quotations. There never has been such a muster of buyers in the history of the Dominion’s sales, or such cheerfulness and optimism in the buying fraternity. * *
