CUT BOTH WAYS.
In a case tried in a certain court the prosecuting counsel had a good deal of fun at the expense of counsel for the defendant, each of whom seemed as stupid as the other.
“Ignorance of the law,” interposed the judge at a certain juncture, “is no excuse for violation of law.”
“May I inquire of your Honour,” asked the prosecuting counsel, “whether your Honour’s remarks are directed at the defendant or his counsel?”
