Mr Oswald Edie left Arrowtown yesterday morning. Private James Reid, of the 89th Reinforcements, returned to camp on Monday last. Mr Alfred Miller, sou of Mr A. Miller, Crown Terrace, has entered the Canterbury Aviation School. Q.M.S. Septimus Paine,Queensto\vn, and Private Alex Elliot and Trooper Thomas Kennett, Head of Lake, are amongst those due to arrive by the next tran poot. Corporal A. S. Hell and Private S. L. Peacock, who were last week reported as missing, are now reported to be prisoners of war in Germany Tha Rev. M. V. Willis, who for pome time has been Vicar of Pembroke, has bt-en appointed to the cure of the Waitaki Mission, with headquarters at Kurow. Privates R. L. Fletcher (Arrowtown), A. InderT. J. Wilson, and R. MeKmlay (Queenstown), and D. Boyd (Franktou) arrived home on Saturday last on final leave. Mrs Johnston, Arrowtown, received a letter list week from her son, Gunner Chas. Johnston, in which he states that the wound he received on the sth April last was only a slight one,- and that he returned to duty the same day. Private Ivor Low, son of Dr Charles Low and grandson of Mr Charles Low, Arrowtown, is at present visiting his relations in this district. Private Low enlisted from Auckland, and left New Zealand with the Eighth Reinforcements, and has had about three years' service He wa3 wounded at the Somme in September, 1910, and, after being in hospital in England for some time, he returned to the firing line lie was again wounded at the Paschendale advance in October of last year. After spending a few months in hospital he was invalided back to New Zealand, arriving on the 17th of last month Corporal W. D. Warren, Queenstown, of the 39th Reinforcements, returned to camp yesterday. On Monday a number of Corporal Warren's friends assembled at Eichardt's Hotel, Queenstown, to bid him farewell. The Mayor (Mr A. Simsou) referred in complimentary terms to the active part that Coiporai Warren had taken in the life ot the town, lie also commended him on the able manner in which ho had conducted the Lake Wakatip Mail. R'V KG. Coats referred to Corporal Warren's activities in church matters, and other speakers spoke of the guest's connection with the various clubs and Horticultural S iciety, and to the faithful and capable manner he had carried out the secretarial duties in connection with many of those organisations, Ad wished him good luck and a safe return. The Mayor, on behalf of friends, presented Corporal Warren with a combined sovereign aud match case. Toe health of Corporal Warren was drunk with musical honours, after which he thanked one and all for their kindly sentiments and presentation.
