Weekly Market Report.

Stronach, Morris and Co., Ltd., report for week ended Thursday, 16th August, 1917, as follows: Fat Cattle:—l<32 yarded—a medium yardof good quality. As the number penned waß only enough for butchers' requirements, competition was very keen, and values Bhowed an advance of 10s per head on last week's rates. Quotations.' Best bullocki £l9 to £2l 10s; extra to £25 17s 6d; medium £J6 10s to £lB 10b; best cows and heiferi £lO to £l7 10d; extra to £23 17e6d; medium £l3 10s to £ls; others £lO up. Fat Sheep.—2s9o penned. The yarding consisted chiefly of ewes and wethers of medium quality. At the commencement of the sale competition was keen, and prioeß were about equal to last week's rates, but towards the end values dropped about Is ou opening rates. Quotations: Prime wethers 44s to 48s 6d; extra to 52s 6d ; medium 38s to 40s; beßt eweß 40s to 44s ; .xtra 6o sls; medium 34a to 37s 6d; others 21s up Lambs.—296 penned—a small yarding. Competition was keen, and prices were firm at late rates.

Pigs—A smali yarding of both fata and stores, for whioh late rates were well maintained.

Although competition was keen, prices were easier, especially for winter skins. The drop in pi ices is due to the shortage of shipping sp*ce. Quotations :—Prime winter does to 59$ d ; winter bucks to 42& d ; incoming to 35 ; } d ; light racks to 19d[; autumns to SO.fd; summer hawked to 12d; wintor hawked to 16.Jd ; 2nd winter bucks and does to 42id ; Ist b'aok to 64d ; 2nd winter black to 5-i£d; incoming black to 33£ d; horsehair to 15£ d per lb; ferret skin 3 from Id to 2j 61 each. Oats.—There has been more enquiry of late for prime grades, and late vaiuos are maintained. Inferior and damaged lines are difficult to sell. Quotations.—Prioio mi! ing 4s to 4b Id; good to best feod 'Si 9d to 10d per bushel (sicks extra). Wheat. -Millers are kean buyers of any lines offering, but practically the only lines in store are small lots of fowl wheat, which can be sold at up to Gs 3d per bushel for heat quality (sacks extra). Potatoes.—The market is fully supplied, and only choice freshly picked lots are in demand. Quotations: —Choice tables £4 to £4 ss; others £2 10s up per ton (sacks in) Chaff.—The market has been barely supplied of late, and all consignments coming to hand have been readily told on arrival at quotations. Best oaten sheaf £6 to £6 ss; medium to good £5 10s to £5 15s per ton (sacks extra). Weekly Market Report. Messrs Watebb, Ritchie, and Co., auctioneers, wool, grain, produce, and Gommißslon agents, report (wholesale) for the week as under. All quotations are subject to market fluctuations :

Wheat.—Good demand at Government prices. Oats.—Market quiet. Milling 3/10 to 4/-, brigUt short faol 3/8 to 3/9, raeiium and inferio 3/3 to 3/6 on trucks. Rabbitskins Market very unsettled, owing to difficulty of obtaining freight. Summers 14Jd to IGJ, raeks 16d to 19d, autumnß 25d to 30d, incoming 32d to 35d, early winters 36d to 38d, selected winter does to 60d, winter blacks 50d to 65d, winter bucks 38d to 42d, winter does 42d to 58d per lb.
