PERSONAL.

The Worshipful the Mayor of Arrowtown (Mr H. McKibbin) returned home from Dunedin on Monday evening. His Worship lias greatly benefited in health by the holiday. Wo regret to hear that Mr J. Grant, mauager for Mr R. M. Paterson, is suffering from appendicitis. Mr Grant went to Dunedin this week to undergo an operation.

Mr John Patterson (Invercargill) has been appointed teacher oftbe Cardrona school, vies Miss Barr resigned. Mr John Powley, son of Mr J. W. Powley, Arrowtown, loft last week for Oamaru, in order to join the North Otogo quota of the 33rd reinforcements. Mr J. S. Collins h*s received advice that his son, Private A. J. Collins is in hospital in England, suffering from severe lobular pneumonia. —Mail. Messrs A. Wilcox and W. McKibbin (Arrowtown), Wm. McAllister (Lower Shotover), D. Anderson (Wanaka), and D. MoMullan (Arthurs' Point) left last

week for Trentbam, where they go into camp with the 33rd Reinforcements. Prior to leaving for camp last week, Mr W. McAllister was met by a number of his Lower Shotover friends and was presented with a case of pipes and i. nurse of sovereigns. The presentation was made by Mr P. Reid. Mr McAllister is a son of Mr John McAllister, Lower Shotover, and 13 the third son to join the colors.
