SPORTS GATHERINGS.
Arrow Caledonian Society. The annual sports were held in the Recreation Ground on Boxing Day. The weather was fine, but warm. The attendance was not quite as large as on former occasions. This was probably due to the many counter attractions such as the Cromwell races, lake excursions?, etc. The various events created a good deal of interest, and during the afternoon Master Colin McDonald enlivened the proceedings with several selections on the bagpipes Several members of Committee worked hard and well for the success of the gathering, and in this respect special praise is due to Messrs Dunlop, Forbes, Balch, E. Thomson, and McEntyre. Prior to the sports, Mr R. Archer lent valuable assistance in disposing of members' tickets. Mr John S. Jenkins was ever attentive and courteous in his office as seoretary. Mr C. Rabins had the temperance booth and Urn Soutter the refreshment tent. Both appeared to do good business. Following are the results : Quoits (11 up), 18yds—1st 20s, 2nd 10s— J Soper 1, J.
