VALEDICTORY.

(Lake County Press Correspondent). A social and dance was held in the schoolroom, Gibbston, on Friday evening last, for the purpose of saying farewell to Mr Andrew Kinross, who is leaving shortly to take up the position of teacher at Waimumu. During the evening, Mr Leslie, on behalf of the residents, presented Mr Kinross with a double gold albert and shield suitably inscribed, Mr Kinross, ’in a neat speech, thanked the donors for their handsome present Bongs were contributed during the evening by Mrs A. Scott, Misses 13. and D. Cowan. The accompaniments were played by Miss C. Chalmers and Mrs Chalmers. Dancing was kept up with spirit till the wee sma’ oors. The ladies provided refreshments and tea in abundance. Mr H. Chard supplied the music and Mr S. Cowan made an efficient M.C.
