Macetown.

' A very successful gathering was held 1 at Macetown on New Year's D*y. There was quite a large number of visitors from Arrowtown, who speak volumes for the hospitality of their Macetown friends. Afternoon tea was kindly provided by the Macetown I ladies. In the evening a most enjoyj able dance was held in the Hall. Capital music was supplied by Messrs J. Anderson, jun. (violin), W. Thompson (accordeon), and T. Johnston (piano). Mr W. Hannah made an efficient M.C. Results of the sports:— Boys' Race, under 10 years—J. Hamilton 1, A. Reid 2, G Summers 3. The weather iu the morning was not at all inviting, and no doubt somewhat marred the attendance. The sports were very successfully carried through, and every praise is clue the various officials.
