LAKE COUNTY JOCKEY CLUB.

The annual meeting of members wa* held in the Pres* ofliae, Arrowtown, on Saturday afternoon last, 24th August. Present—Dr Douglas (president), Dr Thomson, W. Turton, G. D. Baird, B. M. Paterson, E. J. Cotter, P, de la Perrelie, W. D. Warren, H. M‘Kibbin, E. O’Neill, Thos. Johniton, C. D. Dagg, J. L. Jopp, Joseph Jenkins, S. Simmonds, md J. J. M'Brida,

The minutes of last annual meating war* read and confirmed.

The balance sheet, whioh was adopted oa the motion of Messrs Cotter and Paterson, showed a credit balance of £l2B 12* sd, the profit on last race-meeting being about £BO. In moving the adoption of the balance sheet, Mr Cotter referred to the very satisfactory state of the Club’s finances. H* thought that the officials of the Club deserved the thanks of members for this result. Ho also said that a good deal of tha Club’s prosperity was duo to their vice-president (Mr G. D. Baird), through hia efforts in keeping bookmakers off the course.

Other members also referred to the great improvement in the Club’s financial position. It was unanimously resolved to hold a two days’ race-meeting on the Arrow racecourse on 13th and 14th December, 1907. Mr Cotter proposed, Mr Baird seconded—the amount of stakes lor this year’s races bs £420.

As an amendment, Mr Paterson proposed, Dr Thomson seconded—That £4OO be given in stakes.

Ou a vote being taken, the amendment was carried, nine voting for the amendment and six for the motion.

Dr Thomson proposed, Mr M'Bride seconded—That Dr Douglas be re-elected president.—Carried unanimously. In thanking members for the honor they had done him in again re-electing him to the position, Dr Douglas mentioned that he had now held the position of president of the Club for 40 years. During that time he had seen some fine and exciting racing. He was very gratified to see the substantial credit balance. Mr G. D Baird was unanimously re-elected vice-president, and the following office-bearer* were also elected Judge, Dr Douglas; starter, Mr C. D. Dagg (a barrier to be procured for next races); handicapper, Mr G. Logan; clerk of course, Mr W. Gumming; clerk of scales, Mr Joseph Jenkins; totalisator clerks, Messrs J. J. M'Bride and P. de la Perrelle; auditor, Dr Thomson ; treasurer, Mr R. J. Cotter; secretary. Mr P. M. Tobin. The following were elected stewards:— Messrs P. M'Carthy, C. D. Dagg, G. Eaid L. J. Lynoh, A. J. Pope, W. D. Warren, J. J. M'Bride, G. Searle, C. Davis, W. Turton, W. B. Hawson, W. Holland, R. M. Paterson, G. H. Romans, D. Richardson, J. L. Jopp, H. M'Kibbin, Joseph Jenkins, R. J. Cotter, P. de la Perrelle, Jos. Reid, S. Simmouda, E, O’Neill, D. O’Poe, Thos. Johnston, T. Connor, A. Lamfaie, W. Shaw, P. T. Lynch, and Thomas Healy. General Committee—Messrs Baird, Perrelle, Paterson, R. J. Cotter, Romans, Richardson, J. L, Jopp, Lynch, Dagg, Pope, M'Carthy, Simmonds, A. Jopp, E. O'Neill, Thos. Johnston, and T. Connor. Judicial Committee—President, Dr Thomson, Messrs Baird, M'Carthy, Pope, and J. J. M'Bride. Racecourse Committee —Messrs R. J. Cotter, Romans, Richardson, Perrelle, H. M'Kibbin, Simmonds, and A. Jopp. Messrs Romans, Baird, and Perrelle were appointed a committee to draw up a programme. to be submitted at a meeting of committee.

The following gentlemen were appointed collectors :—Arrowtown and district, Mesan Baird and Paterson; Queenstown, Messrs J. J. M‘J3ride and Porrelle; Skippers, Mr P. T. Lynch. In connection with the collecting last year, reference was made to the good work dona by Mr P. T. Lynch, and the liberal manner in which Upper Shotover residents had responded. It was decided that Ur W. F. James be written to asking if he would work totallsator on same terms as last year. Dr Thomson was elected hon, surgeon to the club.

A vote of thanks to the president for presiding terminated the meeting.
