’ The citizens of Queenstown yesterday defeated the team representing the Remarkables and Queenstown clubs by 12 points to 7. Well done, old ’uns ! The Lake County reps travel to Gore to play the Eastern District on the 28 th August. The Northern play Lakes at Queenstown on 3rd Sept., and the Vincent B. team play Lakes at Arrow on 7th Sept. The Arrow team travel to Bannockburn to play a match on Saturday, 24th August. It is proposed to wind up the season by having two fancy dress matches, one to he played at Queenstown and one at Arrow in aid of the respective grounds funds. Players will require to go in for steady training if they wish to hold their own against the above county teams. The following is the team to represent Lake County in the match against Eastern Districts at Gore on Wednesday, 28th August: Full back —A, Jopp; three-quarters—G. Campbell, W. Canning, R McDowell; five-eights —B. McLeely, H. McMullen; half—J. Simon" (Capt.); forwards—C. Davis, A. Mcßride, J. McMullen, J. Shaw, T. Williams, J. Muir, R. Griffiths, B. Wilson. Emergencies; Forwards— Luckie, Connor, D. Canning; backs— C. Mcßride, J. Mcßride, D. McMullan. The New Zealand professional team defeated New South Wales by 12' points to 8.
. The Country team defeated Otago by 11 points to 3. The following team was selected to represent Otago against Southland in the match yesterdayOngley (Oamaru) ; Macpherson (’Varsity), Dwyer (Cromwell), Jolly (Cromwell); Eckhold (Southern), Chambers (Southern ; Dansey (’Varsity); Harrison, Thompson, Morgan (Alexandra), Haig (Clyde), Holden (Cromwell), Ivemey, Denniston, and Tansey.
