QUEENSTOWN NOTES.
(From a correspondent.) We are to be liberally supplied with entertainments in the near future. The annual social in connection with the Presbyterian Church takes place on the 19fch September, the Salvation Army hold a coffee supper on the 23rd August, and the Queenstown Choral Society give a high-class entertainment on the 28tb inst.
Mr W. M'Kinnon, who has been clerk in the local branch of the Bank of New Zealand for some time, has received notice of his promotion to the Dunedin office, Mr M'Kinnon, during his residence here has been a very popular and obliging officer, and the news of his advancement in the Bank’s service will bo bailed with delight by his numerous friends. Prior to his departure he was entertained at farewell smoke concerts, and was the recipient of presentations.
The social and dance in connection with St. Peter’s Church on Thursday evening last was a decided success. A most enjoyable evening was spent. First-class music was supplied, and Mr Pope made an efficient M.O. The football match on Wednesday between the citizens and the team from both clubs promises to be largely patronised. The citizens are in excellent fettle, although somewhat on the heavy side. A number of them have been taking running exercise from
Queenstown to Frankton, and they consider their staying powers now equal to the All Blacks.
