Messrs Simmonds and Perrelle said that on Mr Fraser's recent visit to Arrowtown they had interviewed him regarding the objects of the Association, 'and Mr Fraser recognised its usefulness, and personally promised all the support in his power. Messrs Lynch and Smith moved— That the Secretary write the Minister of Mines and Mr Fraser, M.H.R., asking them to urge upon Government the desirability of having a liberal grant made for pushing on the road at the Upper Shotover, as there was known to be a large extent of highly auriferious land there, which could not be worked owing to the want of a road for bringing machinery or anything else on to it. After a good deal of useful discussion upon mining in general throughout the district a vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
