MISUNDERSTOOD.
A young woman, with a two-year-old child in her arms boarder; a tramcar last week, and ihe conductor came round with his usual cry of "Fares, please !" The young woman who had the child on her knee, tendered a halfcrown. The conductor, being short of change, politely asked her : "Is thifc the smallest you have '.'" Fulling the child towards her. she replied : "Oh, no. I've one three months old at home."
