Petersburg compositors refused to print reactionary newspaper articles; ami also banned the programmes, subscription lists and appeals of the Party of Law and Order and other ant i-l liberal assoeia fions. The result was thai a small hand press was established tit the house of Princess Oolifsiu, and, after a few days' practice, hundreds of svellpi'inted leaflets were turned out, containing patriotic appeals to support the ('/.ill' and the Orthodox religion. The ladies engaged in this work were so pleased with the result of their efforts that the\ resolved to keep the press and lo practice typesetting anil printing a few hours every week, in order to keep their party henceforth independent of printers.
