SHEEP WORRYING.
£SOO To £6OO Loss. One of the most serious sheep-worrying cases on record recurred on Mr Alex. Beanee's Owaro Bank Farm during the nighb of Tuesday-Wednesday. Mr Beange had some 720 breeding ewes, and of this number oaly 290 can bo found alive so that over 400 have been destroyed by dogs. The flock were evidently caught in * corner where the Owaro stream intersects the land, and the frightened, Btumtl animals rushed over the bank to a wholesale death, by smothering and drowning. Their bodies flammed up the water until it fathered volume enough to burstthrougn the barrier. In one hole 125 carotwoa were found, and 70 were got on Mr U. Muir's, a mile down stream. Carcases 'were neon in the Wyndham River, a distance of five miles away, and certainly a 2 reaf, many more must have been carried by these tributary streams into the Mataura. The carouses recovered arc being gkiDHetUuud the y;>luu of the skins will go
in reduction of the loss. Making every allowance, Mr Beango's loss must bo between £SOO and £OOO. Wo feel sure that there is not a man in tho district but will sympathise with Mr Beaugo in his misfortuno. Wyndhani Herald.
