SPORTING NOTES.

[By Peeping Tom.] For the May meeting of the Tahuca park Trotting Club the handicapper has taken special care of the locallyowned trotters. In the Trial Handicap J.O. is scratch, conceding 34 sees. The ho«-se is also on the scratch mark for the Ladies' Bracelet, while in the Pony race Erratic is on the scratch mark. It is doubtful if the horses will be taken to Dunedin, and little wonder.

At the A.J.O. meeting Long Tom won the Place Handicap, of H mile, in 2min 34sec, constituting a new Australian record. Some great racing was witnessed at the Trotting meeting in Ohristchurch, and some very fast times were put up. Discoverer won the Mile Handicap in 2.20, and the Juvenile Stakes was won by Sal Tasker in the same time.
