LOVE’S BRAND.
At Naples on May 23 last no lt£, than fifteen young women were to at the hospitals for terrible knife in the face. But there is nothing new fnthis. It happens every day It is merely the Neapolitan way of expressing passion. All the young men of the lower classes who are not quite sure of the fidelity of their sweethearts find some opportunity of slashing them across the face as a mark of possession. Among these it is almost an exception to find a young woman with an unscarred face, and in some cases it is even said to be transmitted bv hereditv.
