Th« Southland Association team visited Arrowtown on Christmas Day, and defeated the local team by 121 runs on the first innings—Arrow 25, Southland 146. In their second innings, however, the local players made an excellent stand ,five wickets falling for 122 runs when time was called. Frequent changes of bowling were tried without effect, and it is safe to predict hod the Arrow team batted as well in their first effort as in the second, the game would have been decidedly interesting. Shanahan 41, Thomson 29, and Anderson 20 were the principal scores. For Southland Robertson 39, Dalrymple 32 and Burns 30 were the only players to reach double figures.
