Lowburn.
(prom an occasional correspondent.) THE WEATHER, During the past few weeks the weather has been very boisterous. The Kawaran and Clutha Rivers are higher than they have been since the flood of’7B. The punt was only able to bo worked with great difficulty, and reflects great credit on Mr M'Phersou for his skilful management. The three diedges on the river were stopped working ; but, a the river has gone down considerably,, they have again made a start. SCHOOL EXAMINATION. The school was examined last Monday by Mr Bossence and had an excellent pass, obtaining 100 per cent. Mr Stewart and Miss Thomson deserve great praise tor the able way they have brougnt on the children. I believe Mr Stewart is to join the benedicts shortly which I think is a very wise step. SOCIALS. For the last two Fridays the Endeavour Society have held very enjoyable socials,, refreshments being provided by the ladies of the district. I was sorry not to see more young men present, as I am quite sure they would be much benefited by attending. The young ladies attend very regularly. I often see them walking three or four miles to attend meetings, which, says a great deal for them. SHEARING. Mt. Fisa Station commenced shearing on the 4th and. so far they have hard good weather-
