Marquis Rudini, speaking in the Chamber of Deputies, declared that a British alliance would enhance Italay’s position in Egypt. The Venezuelan warship Ayacuche was burned off Margarita Island and eight of the crew perished. A daring robnory has been perpetrated at Wool Gauze, W.A. where a safe containing £I2OO in cash was stolen from the tent of the office in charge of the Government waterworks. The safe was carried into the bush ’ and rifled. While three miners named Mitchell, Dunford, and Morton were putting in a ohot in the Occidental mine at Cobar, N.S.W. tho charge exploded, and Mitoh ell and Dunforti were killed. Morton was slightly injured.
