“Diseased Nature oftentimes breaks forth in strange eruptions.* —Act iii, Scene 1.
TO THE PUBLIC. / ~' Ni OME patient*suffering from er ousalTections L , are afraid from sheer baahfulness and modesty to pkkson ally consult a medical man—other patients have not the self-possession and coolness when in the consulting room, to accurately describe their symptoms—their habits of life, and the nature of the disease they suffer from. Let such persons (he or sue) sit quietly down in the privacy of their own apartments', and with calm minds describe clearly each symptom of their case. A dear statement thus written, and laid before me, is far preferable in nkrvoCs diseases to a personal consultation. Where, however, a disease is of a peculiar and exceptional character, a personal consultation may become necessary ; but my success in correspondence is so great, that of the thousands upon thousands whom I have treated by letter during the last 3‘2 years, not a single mistake has ever occurred, not a case has ever been made public—in fact, th very simplicity of my system of correspondence prevents publicity. A. the same time medicines are sent to my pat. •• t in such a form as to defy detection. How many thousands have I not brought joy to ? . flow many have been enabled to enter into the marriage state through consulting me V How many after marriage have privately con suited me and been blessed, and their married lives mad ruitful and happy ? How :na i.v wasted mined youth? of bold sexes have also been restored to health, and thanked their manhood, for having consulted me by letter? How many questions arise when the family hysician is unable to unravel the case, and where often the patient lingers on, not daring to tell hi? family medical adviser the nature of hi? complaint, until consumption wasting, or mental diseases set in, and the sufferer get& beyond the curable stage and is left a hopeless wreck ?
A letter written in the privacy of the room and dropped in the post box reaches me quietly ; the answer is returned as quietly and unostentatiously and the patient, without stepping from his chamber except to post his letter, is by return of post put in full possession of the nature of hiscase. His hopes arc raised, his doubts removed, and he it comparatively a new man ; in fact, in many cases, a new being altogether. Tho only addition to the ordinary written .etter is the age, occupation, habits, and symptoms, no tiling more. The usual consultation fee «f LI (om pound) must he enclosed, otherwise, no answer will he returned. There arc thousands of cases in daily life where a consultation with one at a distance, will remove by a single letter a groat fear, a great care, and it often solves what appears as an impenetrable im story. Many a sad heart has been made joyful on receipt of an explanatory letter from me. To those who are about to marry, would say consult me before doing so, and thus prevent many after troubles, and remove many unnecessary fears and prejudices; to those, more especially who have aullered in early years from disease, or who have yielded to their passions. To these gay, at once, consult with me, do not tarry, delays are dangerous, and as an expert, my time may not be always at your service. You can, by simply enclosing one pound, have the benefit of my experience in the same manner as if 1 lived in your own town and with the additional advantage of thorough privacy.—Yours truly, * ’ LOUIS L.
