(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) DUNEDTN, Wednesday Evening, 8. At the Police Court to-day Robert Arthur Gordon was fined 40s and costs on a charge of illtreating his adopted son. The evidence showed that the lad was an incorrigible voting rascal, but the Bench thought Gordon had used brutality in beating him. A peculiar divorce case was before the Court, to-day, Mrs Jolly petitioning for judicial separation from her husband'. The parties have been married for 39 years, and have a numerous family, but the husband, it was alleged, had treated her so badly that she was compelled to take proceedings. The .case was not concluded. The full hundred excursionists have booked for the second trip of the Tarawera to the Sounds. At the Land Board meeting W. 8. D. Trotter applhed to surrender run 323, Kingston, to enable him to obtain it at a lower rental th\n at present (£100). To be informed that the present rental of run 323 is £IOO Ranger Hughan [? Adair] reported on the complaint of Mr M'Dougall that the foreshore of Lake Wanaka wan being fenced in and built on by one Allen without authority.
