Present:—His "Worship the Mav Crs Graham, Pritchard, Reid, Coste] Scoles. and Letcher.

The meeting was called by sped order, upon requisition of the Mayi for the purpose of adopting a resol tion to levy a rate for water-supply. A letter from L>. M. Luckie, Eg Government Insurance Commission! was read, stating that the loan £2,500 was reserved to negotiate foj and asking the Council to- expedj business by levying special rate, &c, His Worship stated that Mr Turtoi Borough Solicitor, had been consults and had put everything in order fi advertising resolution to levy wat« rate. Proposed by Cr Pritchard, seeondt by Cr Letcher, and carried, " That tl Borough Council of Arrowtowu for t) purpose of providing the interest ai sinking-fund upon the loan of £2,51 for 20 years for th« water-supp} raised' by the said Council, here! make and levy a special rate of lsi the £ upon the value of all rateali property within, the Borough of Arrcn town as it appears by the valuatioi roll in force, and that such special ra shall be payable half-yearly on the li day of June and the Ist day of Decen ber in every year until the said loani paid off." Proposed by Cr Scoles, seconded I Cr Graham, and carried. "That meeting for the purpose of connrmin the resolution to levy a rate for watei supply be held at the Council Chan bers, Arrowtown, on Wednesday, 21i April, 1880, at 8 p.m." The Town Clerk tabled an estimal of receipts and expenditure for tl year 1880—81.

Proposed by O Seoles, seconded l Cr Reid, and carried, " That the Esti mates as read be adopted: and put lished."
