Before H. A. Stratford, Esq., Warden. Monday, December Bth. Extended claims were granted to Anceli and party, at Twelve-milt Creek, and an extended claim and tail-race to Samuel Cowan, at Eight, mile Creek., ° Residence-areas were granted to Peter Henderson at Gibbston, and to John Comer on the south side oi Kawarau, opposite Arrow River junction. , - i H. Cook’s application for a residencearea at Kawarau was refused ; a fresh application to be lodged, and heard on the sth January. (Mr Barker was agent in above applications.) An agricultural lease area was granted to John Fletcher at the Lower Shotover. W. Patton’s application for an a\ricultural lease area at the Lower Shot over was opposed by T. Gibson (for whom. Mr Healey appeared), on the ground that, he, and not Patton, had a right of pre-emption to a portion of the land applied for under Section 66; of the Mines Act. After long argu-. ment the objection was over-ruled and the application granted ; time to shift crop and valuation for fencing beino--allowed to Gibson;. °
