ARROW MINERS' ASSOCIATION.
The usual monthly me ting of above committee was held in the Library Hall on the sth instant. PresentMessrs M'Whirter, J. A. Miller, Harris, Healey, Watson, Carroll and Symoods, (hon. secretary). Minutes of previous meeting were read and con firmed.
Mr Lt-wis Harris was elected President of the Association, vice Mr Jaini-s Miller, resigned. After the correspondence had been submitted to the Committee, and dealt with, resolutions to the following effect were carried:—
4 * That the Committee oppose the ap? plication of Mr G. A. Barker for an agricultural lease of auriferous land at Whitecbapel Flat ; and that steps be taken to have the sections in that locality proclaimed a mining reserve, as the miners there have incurred much inconvenience by being continually called upon to opp se applications for agricultural leases."
" That the Waiden be solicited to direct that applicants in advertising applications for agricultural leases shall state, in addition to the number of the block and sectiou, the locality of the land applied for, thus—' Arrow Flat,' ' Miller's Flat,' &c, as the case may be."
" That a sub-committee meet to draw up a draft of Standing Orders for the guidance of the Committee."
A vote of thanks to the Chair closed the proceedings.
