TENNIS SOCIAL
The Arrowtown Lawn Tennis Club held a very successful dance in the Athemeum Hall on Friday, January 2. A very large crowd was present. Music was supplied by Mesdames L. Murphy and E. Jenkins and Messrs Lonsdale, Eeid and the Hobos. Vocal items were contributed by Mrs I. D. CoAvie and Miss StoA’cnson and the Singing Hobos. During the evening opportunity Avas taken to make a presentation to tAvo prominent members of the club —Miss F. Adams and Mr J. Wilcox — avlio have left for Trentham Training School. On behalf of the people of ArroAvtoAvn the Mayor, Mr E. L. Thompson, spoke of the sterling qualities of the guests and Avished them both the best of luck in the future.
Mr W. Hore, Postmaster, spoke on behalf of the Post Office staff, of Avhich Mr Wilcox has been a member for tAvo years; Mr P. King for the Football Club and Mr J. WJ, Henderson, in making a presentation from the Tennis and Table Tennis Clubs, spoke of the high, qualities of. both young people and wished them both every success in the future.
Mr J. Wilcox suitably replied on behalf of Miss Adams and himself. Mr I. D. Cowie Avas M.C. and supper was supplied by the Arrow Tennis Club members.
