Cardrona Defeats Queenstown Playing under, unfavourable conditions the Cardrona eleven were winners over the local elev.en by 43 runs in a match played on Labour Day. Batting for Queenstown, L. Forde was the highest scorer with 25 and J. Leighbridge (Cardrona) retired after a knock of 60. T. Scurr (Cardrona) secured the best bowling average for the day, taking six wickets for 25 runs. Cromwell Wins Burnett Shield lu the first contest this season for the Burnett Shield, Queenstown were defeated by Cromwell by 80 runs. The fielding and bowling of the Cromwell eleven were mainly responsible for the big disparity in the scores. Templeton was the only batsman for Queenstown to make a stand. at the wickets. At the conclusion of the game Mr Nelson, president of the Queenstown Club, made a formal presentation of the shield to Mr Murray, captain of the Cromwell eleven, congratulating the team on their win.
