Change of Address

Will Correspondents, Advertisers and Subscribers kindly note that the address of the Lake County Mail now is 157 Rattray street, Dunedin, C.l. P.O, Box 928, Dunedin. C.l. IlilillllUllHllllllllllllilllllllllllllllillllllillllilllillHlllllilllilil Mr McLagan, efforts were made to arrange priority passages for a number of those men, but it was found impracticable to assist except in a few cases because of the acute shipping position. If, however, there was a possibility of bringing Australian shearers to New Zealand in the coming season, every help would be given. Servicemen Settlement In order to facilitate land settlement for returned servicemen the Dominion conference asked the Government that farmers who were prepared to sell their properties should be given some priority for Government houses or the necessary permit to secure other suitable living accommodation. In reply, the Minister in charge of the State Advances Corporation, said that some priority has been given to owners of homes when they had sold to returned servicemen, but in cases where the proceeds to the vendors amounted to a substantial sum it was considered such people were in a position to re-purchase. All cases were usually dealt with on their individual merits and if brought to the notice of the Government they would be sympathetically considered parallel with other urgent cases on hand.
