Annual Meeting Held
Mr W. D. Warren presided over a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Wakatipu Bowling Club held in the Fire Brigade station on Thursday night last week. Finances showed a balance of £2O 12s lid, a slight increase on the previous year, reported the secretary, Mr W. Mclnnes, who, presenting the annual report and balance sheet, congratulated members on a successful season. Club membership stood at 44 it was stated. Competitions during the year resulted as follows:—Champion Singles, A. A. Tripp; Champion Doubles, 'f. L. Hanrahan and W. Here; leads and seconds, W. Smith; handicap singles, G. A. Walsh; handicap doubles, T. L. Hanrahan and B. Orr. The three club rinks were congratulated on their first season’s play in the , Otago Centre competition as also were A. A. Tripp in the Centre championship singles and T. L. Hanrahan and W. Here in the championship doubles.
The committee thanked Messrs 'Seandrett, Tripp and Hanrahan ,fdr their good offices in running the progressive tournament during the season, Mr Jas. Nisbet for running the one-day tournament. Business people who contributed prizes for competition were also thanked. The Plunkct Society benefited to the extent of £3 from an afternoon tournament, it was reported. Mr Warren was thanked for donating a silver cup. for the handicap doubles.. ' The election of office-bearers- • resulted :—President, Mr W. N. Nelson; vice-presidents, Messrs L. Hanrahan and C. Smart; auditor, Mr H. D. Walker; secretary, Mr W. Mclnnes; delegates to Centre Council, Messrs T. Sunderland, Mander, Capper, A. A. Tripp; match controller, Mr E. V. Scandrett; executive committee —Messrs Scandrett, .Tripp, B. Vercoe, J. Thomson, W. Smith, G. Walsh, C. Gibb and officebearers ex officio. ” ’ It was decided to open the season on October IS and subscriptions Were fixed at 7s Gd for active members and 5s for honorary members. It was decided to add a champion of champion pairs to the list of competitions as well as a rink challenge competition among members. The meeting unanimously resolved that a certificate or some type of badge should be struck for presentation to winners of cups. Three rinks would be entered for the centre competition, it was arranged.
