LOWER SHOTOVER CONCERT
Proceeds for Hall Funds
The Lower Shotover Public Hall was well filled last Wednesday night when the Arrowtown Entertainers presented ti variety concert to an appreciative audience. The proceeds were for the Public Hall Fund.
The programme comprised of plays and playettes, a tableaux, —“ Rendezvous,” elocutionary items, pianoforte and vocal solos. The music for the dance which followed was supplied by Mrs L. Murphy. Before the concert concluded Mr J. A. Bagrie, chairman of the hall, committee, congratulated the Entertainers on the standard shown and thanked them for. coming forward and offering to assist his committee. The people of the district were indebted to them, he said, and would look forward to their return on some future occasion.
Replying: Mrs G. P. Ogilvie, president of the Entertainers, thanked Mr Bagrie for his remarks n and said it was a pleasure to all members to have assisted a worthy cause. The policy of the Entertainers was to assist. She thanked Mr Bagrie and his committee for the assistance they had given and said she felt sure the Entertainers would return with another programme at some future date.
Mr Willis Shaw was responsible for lighting effects on the stage, and with the moonlight effect for the scenes, this feature really made the concert such a success.
