Building Contractors Breach of Regulations From correspondence read at the monthly, meeting of the Queenstown Borough 1 Council it was disclosed that a building* contractor was making alterations to a Queenstown Hotel without the necessary permit having been issued. The letter, which was from the District Building Controller at Dunedin, stated that this application still had to, have the approval of the Advisory Building Committee in Wellington. He had been advised by a member of his stall' that this work was proceeding and the question of referring the matter to Wellington with a view .to upon the contractor giance that no further he carried out until the permit has been received. ACOiTticilku-.: “ Did the contractor receive‘The necessary building permit from the council V ” The Town Clerk: “No permit has been issued by the Building Inspector, nor has the council office ‘issued any authority.” Councillors agreed that this wgs a flagrant breach of the By-laws and deluded to write to, the contractor advising him that,the council took a serious view" of the matter and asking him foi liia explanation. ' It was also decided to draw the contractor’s attention to the fact that no application had been received uy the council for depositing rubbish on a public street. The foe for such was 10 shillings per week.
