Final Meeting of Committee The final meeting of the District Farewell and Welcome Home Committee was held in the Rowling Pavilion on Saturday evening, when Mr M. Elliott presided over a full meeting of members. It was resolved that a full list of those who had served in the second World War be handed to the ArrowBorough Council, with the recommendation that they keep a recoid of same. The secretary, Mr E. J. Saunders was complimented on the capable manner in which he had handled the business of the committee. It was decided that the Ladies Committee and members of the W.D.F.U. be entertained at an evening in the Pai ilion on June 27. Two prizes each for cards were donated by Messrs J. H. Douglas, and W. H. Thompson. It was moved and carried that the credit balance be handed to the War Memorial Committee. The chairman thanked all the members of the committee for their help throughout the war years, and especially the ladies on whom the brunt of the work, in preparing suppers, etc. for the Farewell and Welcome Home functions had fallen. Mr. J. H. Douglas and Mr J. I letchei replied and fully endorsed the chairman’s remarks. .It was decided to send invitations to be present at the evening to Messrs C. T v Johnston, D. G. Anderson, and T. A. Johnston, ex-members of the committee who were absent from the district. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
