LAKE WAKATIPU RABBIT BOARD

The Lake Wakatipu Rabbit Board held a meeting of ratepayers recently for the purpose of discussing the Board’s financial position and its future policy. Mr. W. P. Saunders, Chairman of the Board, gave an outline of the position. It appears that the Board is faced with the necessity of reducing expenditure and increasing its revenue. Arising out of the discussion, it was indicated that the Board had already allocated areas to free rabbiters who were under the jurisdiction of the Board’s Inspectors. It was hoped to reduce the wa£es and costs to ai minimum, and an indication was given that an increase in the rate was inevitable.
