THE N.Z. ARMY.

According to the statement of the Hon. A. M. Myers, the number of men who have joined the forces voluntarily in New Zealand totalled 72,000 up to the end of December, while the number of men despatched by New Zealand up to and including the Twentieth Reinforcements, totalled 61,a00. The number of men returned to New Zealand to December 31st last was 8,010, and the number of returned men who have gone back to the front is 1100. The perusal of these figures is a matter of satisfaction and proves how deeply have the obligations of citizenship been recognised by the manhood of the Dominion. It must, of course, be remembered also, that the above figures, large as, they are, do not nearly represent the total voluntary enlistments, as several thousands of men have been rejected for medical and other reasons.
