TOWN BOARD.

The Town Board,met on Saturday : present—Messrs Jas. McLeod (chair- ' man), J. A. Wilson, Jas. Hand and Jas. Stewart. Proposed Sunday Tkain. Tne Kaipara Chamber of Commerce heartily supported the proposal of a Sunday train between Auckland and Helensville but did not consider it necessary to hold a public meeting as suggested by the Board. The Borough Council and Hobson County would also be asked to co-operate in the matter. The Chairman mentioned that a previous meeting had decided to leave the matter of calling a public meetingto him when a.reply was to band from Dargaville. He thought it better to have a public meeting in Helensville, as he felt sure there would be a large attendance. A public meeting was arranged for Tuesday, Nov I lth, in Stewarts' sample rooms. Street Lamps.. Wm, Cullens applied for a barrel of carbide for the lighting of street lamp for one year.—The Chairman thought the carbide should be supplied later on.— Messrs Stewart and Wilson thought about half way through the year would be satisfactory. —Resolved to inform Mr Cullens that carbide would be supplied to him at the same time as to others who looked after street lamps. Telephone Service. The Telephone Department advised that the question of providing ad~ ditioual telephone facilities between Auckland and stations en route to HelensviUe was now under considerat'on Building Permits. The plans submitted by Jas. Stewart for house on Awaroa street and another on corner of Grarfield road and Fourth, Avenue were approved. ■ Finance. The Town Board account showed a debit of £260, the drainage account was £58 los in arrears, and the water supply £106 14s. Hot Springs Landing. At the ensuing Domain Board meefc Ing the Kaipara Chamber of Commerce advised that application had been made to the Minister for Tourist and Health Resorts for the erection of a wharf at the Helensville Hot Springs landing, so as to enable passengers from the Wairoa and Otamatea boats to take advantage of the baths while waiting for the trains. Under the present system the boats came on to Helensviile and if people then made a trip back to the Springs they had not sufficient time to catch the train. The Board were asked to support the application. It was decided to forward a resolu* tion to the Minister as requestSd. Town Band. The Town Band's application to play a programme of music and take up a collection at the Domain on Sunday, November 16th, was granted. New Pavilion. A progress payment of £lnO on the new pavilion was passed for Mr J. Simcock, contractor.
